Starting 1993, I have focused my personal studies on sustainability. Last year I read John Sterman’s text book on system dynamics, Business Dynamics, and have begun writing extensively on sustainability issues. My main area of interest thus far is to look at worldview change from a systems perspective and see how communications can facilitate this change. This will be the basis for a future book. See also worldview.

Donella Meadows, Inspiration

I studied under the late Professor Donella Meadows who was a guiding force for many people now working in sustainability. She wrote a “Global Citizen” column about me. See more about here on the Worldview inspirations page.

Querencia

My largest sustainability project is the development of Querencia, the intentional community in Costa Rica. It has the vision of self-sufficiency and the mission of spreading the word about sustainable living.

Worldview Change Project

While no longer a project, my research and writer has focused greatly on how worldviews change at the level of people and cultures. See the Worldview Change page.

Writing

Increasingly I am shifting my writing toward sustainability with special emphasis on systems thinking applications. I have been writing fiction to help people understand sustainability, spirituality, and systems from the outside looking in, rather than from inside the box where most people are. I also do volunteering writing for the Global Footprint Network. See my writing on sustainability, worldview, and systems.
