Daily Happenings.” (1999). Hurricane Mitch in Central America (Brookside Publishers) and Honduras This Week. Creative non-fiction account of my days during and after Hurricane Mitch in La Ceiba, Honduras. Lead off piece in the book.

Human Race Against Nature. (October 2003). Keynote addess for the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education. It was a multi-media creative essay (PowerPoint slides and an improv bass player) discussing why it is necessary to discard the term ‘nature.’

Trip of Consciousness” and “Clueless” (1992). Poems. The Dartmouth. Dartmouth Colleges daily student newspaper. The secon was co-written with Chris Arabia and is very short: As Freshmen we ask, Where are you from? As seniors we ask, Where are you going? If only the second were as easy to answer as the first.

Blood on the Skiway.” (1988). Jack O Lantern, Dartmouth Colleges humor magazine. Humor poem on the thrill of skiing dangerously.

Truth About Stupidity.” (1988). Jack O Lantern. Parody of Emersons Oversoul and essay about stupidity in the universe as a conscious force.

Song of the Rat.” (1988). Jack O Lantern. Poem about stupidity based on Walt Whitmans style.

Ode to the Custodian.” (1988). Jack O Lantern. Poem honoring janitors on the Monday after the Dartmouth Winter Carnival.

The Road.” (1988). The Fortnightly. Short story in The Dartmouths biweekly weekend supplement. Also won the Hart Memorial Writing Contest in high school.

The Only Solution.” (1988). PG-13. High school literary magazine. Short story.

Untitled.” (1981). Foxboro Public School System applied a writing evaluation when I was in Fifth Grade. I was the only student in town to earn a perfect score on this fictional piece about what I would do if I had a time machine. The boost to my young ego launched my writing career.
